Dubai Land Department to Launch Zero-Interest Rent Service

The Dubai Land Department is set to launch a ‘Rent Now, Pay Later’ service in September, allowing tenants to spread their annual rent over up to 12 months without interest.

The service is being developed in partnership with a local bank. Under the proposed mechanism, the participating bank will pay the landlord the full annual rent upfront, while the tenant repays the amount to the bank through flexible monthly instalments at zero interest.

Full eligibility criteria and operational details have not yet been released. The application, financing and repayment processes, as well as the respective roles of tenants, landlords and the participating bank, are expected to be outlined when the service formally launches.

If introduced in its proposed final form, the initiative could make Dubai the first city globally to integrate such a mechanism into its rental market.

The service follows the Dubai Land Department’s ‘Flexi Rent’ initiative, introduced on June 23rd, which expanded tenant payment options to include monthly, quarterly and semi-annual instalments. The programme also included incentives and packages from participating entities aimed at supporting rental market stability and providing more flexible housing options.
