Egypt Advances to 86th in UN Sustainable Development Index 2026
Egypt scored 69.0 in the 2026 Sustainable Development Report, moving up from 91st place last year.
Egypt has moved up five places in the 2026 Sustainable Development Report’s SDG Index, ranking 86th out of 169 countries compared with 91st in 2025.
The country received an overall score of 69.0, reflecting its progress across the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. A score of 100 represents full achievement across all goals.
Compiled by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the SDG Index brings together internationally comparable indicators covering areas such as poverty, health, education, gender equality, infrastructure, climate action and institutions.
The report also provides goal-by-goal dashboards showing whether individual indicators are improving, stagnating or declining, giving a more detailed picture of where progress is being made and where major challenges remain.
According to the Egyptian Cabinet, the latest ranking represents a five-place improvement from 2025. Egypt’s 2026 score also stands above the Middle East and North Africa average of 65.6 reported in local coverage of the results.
