Egypt Is Playing National Songs in Repeat Following World Cup Win
At this rate, Spotify may need to introduce a temporary Celebrating Egypt category.
Scientists may never fully understand what happens to Egyptians after a major football victory. Spotify, however, has a working theory.
Following Egypt's historic World Cup win against New Zealand, the nation's collective response appears to have been opening Spotify and putting patriotic songs on loop until further notice. Leading the charge is Hamada Helal's 'Amalouha El Regala', which exploded by a very reasonable 4,300%.
Mohamed Hamaki's 'Om El Donia' followed with a 1,500% jump, while Loay's 'Baladna' climbed 775%. Elsewhere, Hussein Al Jasmi's 'Boshret Kheir' was summoned from its permanent state of national emergency soundtrack duty with a 230% increase, while Sherine's 'Mashrebtesh Min Nilha' rose by 210%.
At this rate, Spotify may need to introduce a temporary Celebrating Egypt category. And if Saturday goes well, we suggest checking on whoever manages the servers.
