Egypt’s Health Ministry Reports One Injury Due to Earthquake

Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that one person was injured following the early morning earthquake in the eastern Mediterranean, estimated by different monitoring agencies at between 5.3 and 5.9 magnitude. The tremor, centred off the coast near Crete, was felt across several parts of Egypt, including Cairo and Alexandria.

According to the ministry, its Central Operations Room has been monitoring the situation nationwide since the tremor occurred, with hospitals and emergency departments placed on high alert to respond to incoming reports.

The ministry said only one injury had been recorded across the country at the time of the statement. The individual received the necessary medical care and has since been discharged after their condition improved.

The ministry added that the health system remains on standby, with operations rooms and hospital emergency units continuing to monitor developments around the clock.

Officials also urged the public to remain calm, rely on information issued by official authorities, and follow public safety guidance as needed.
