Egyptian Remittances Reach Record USD 34.9 Billion in Nine Months

Remittances from Egyptians working abroad rose to a record USD 34.9 billion during the first nine months of the 2025/2026 fiscal year, according to figures released by the Central Bank of Egypt.

The total covers the period from July 2025 to March 2026 and represents a 32% increase compared to USD 26.4 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

According to the central bank, the figure marks the highest level ever recorded for remittances during the first nine months of a fiscal year.

Remittances remain one of Egypt’s primary sources of foreign currency and play a significant role in supporting the country's external financial position.

The inflows contribute to foreign exchange reserves, support foreign currency liquidity and help finance imports of strategic goods and raw materials.

According to the Central Bank of Egypt, remittances also contribute to foreign exchange market stability and support the country's ability to meet external obligations, helping ease pressure on the current account balance.
