Emirates to Build USD 5 Billion Engineering Complex in Dubai

Dubai-based airline Emirates will invest more than USD 5 billion to build a new engineering complex at Al Maktoum International Airport, in what the carrier describes as one of the largest aviation engineering facilities globally. The complex, developed through Emirates Engineering, will cover approximately one million square metres and is expected to be completed between 2030 and mid-2030.
The site will significantly expand maintenance, repair, and overhaul capacity for Emirates’ wide-body fleet at Dubai World Central, with the new facility planned at nearly double the size of the airline’s current engineering operations.
Project details indicate the complex will be capable of handling 28 wide-body aircraft simultaneously for maintenance work, while also supporting conversions between passenger and freighter aircraft configurations.
The facility will additionally include dedicated aircraft painting infrastructure capable of handling multiple wide-body aircraft at the same time. Emirates has partnered with Beijing-based China Railway Construction Company to develop the project, with the agreement signed at the Dubai South headquarters near Al Maktoum International Airport.
