H.H Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Passes Away at Age 76

Dubai has declared 10 days of official mourning following the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, brother of Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on Monday, September 21st, 2026, according to the Dubai Media Office. Flags across the emirate will be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period.

Sheikh Mohammed paid tribute to his brother in a post on X, writing: “You are absent from our eyes but not from our prayers and hearts. May God make you dwell in the vast expanses of His Paradise, and inspire us and your loved ones with patience and solace. And to God we belong, and to Him we shall return.”

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, also mourned Sheikh Ahmed, writing: “Today, we lose a dear one from our family, and we bid him farewell with hearts faithful in God's decree and destiny." He added: "Sheikh Ahmed will remain in our hearts, memory, and prayers, and we ask God to envelop him in His vast mercy.”
