Haramain Train Capacity Increased to Over 2.2 Million Seats for Hajj

Capacity on the Haramain High-Speed Train has been increased to more than 2.21 million seats for the Hajj season, as part of efforts to accommodate rising passenger demand.

The service is operated by Saudi Arabia Railways and connects Makkah with Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Abdullah Economic City, and Madinah.

More than 5,300 trips are scheduled across the network to transport pilgrims between the two holy cities and surrounding stations during the season.

A fleet of 35 electric trains has been allocated to the service, with each train capable of carrying 417 passengers.

The trains operate at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour across a 453-kilometre rail network along the Red Sea corridor.

The expanded capacity forms part of broader operational planning to manage peak travel periods and facilitate movement between key pilgrimage locations.
