More Than 11,000 Students Join 'Mawhiba' Gifted Education Classes

More than 11,000 students have enrolled in the Mawhiba Classes programme for the 2026–27 academic year, while a further 5,200 have joined the Mawhiba Advanced programme for Science and Mathematics.

The programmes are run by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, known as Mawhiba, in cooperation with partner schools across Saudi Arabia.

Mawhiba Classes provide dedicated classrooms, specialised teachers and supplementary curricula focused on skills development and problem solving. Participating public and private schools must meet standards covering infrastructure, teaching methods, assessment and learning approaches.

The programme now operates in more than 240 schools across 23 cities. It began in 2009 with 185 students at 28 schools in four cities, and had expanded to 9,900 students at 190 schools in 17 cities by the previous academic year.

The Mawhiba Advanced programme for Science and Mathematics is delivered remotely through digital learning platforms nationwide. It runs for 20 weeks outside regular school hours and uses supplementary enrichment curricula taught by male and female instructors.

Ahead of the new academic year, Mawhiba also held introductory sessions for school coordinators, new teachers and parents, covering programme procedures and available educational opportunities.

Other activities held in August included an external training camp for the astronomy and space team, a programme for educational leaders working with gifted students, a cooperation agreement with Tuwaiq Academy and the launch of the National Talent Olympiad.
