National Award for Higher Education Excellence Launched in the UAE

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched the UAE Award for Higher Education to recognise outstanding institutions, projects and individuals contributing to the development of higher education nationwide.

The award comprises four categories: Leadership, Readiness, Pioneers and National Impact. The Leadership category recognises leading universities, higher education and vocational education institutions, as well as outstanding entrepreneurs. Readiness focuses on transformative higher education projects, while Pioneers honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the sector. The National Impact category recognises higher education partners delivering measurable contributions alongside outstanding international universities.

According to the ministry, the award aims to recognise contributors to the UAE's higher education ecosystem, encourage excellence and innovation across institutions, and support projects that strengthen future readiness. It also seeks to align higher education and scientific research with national priorities, promote partnerships between academia and key economic sectors, and highlight best practices across the sector.

The ministry added that the initiative is intended to encourage knowledge exchange and the sharing of successful models among higher education institutions. Announcing the award, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, said higher education plays a central role in preparing national talent and equipping graduates with the skills needed to participate effectively in the labour market.
