National Digital Platform Planned to Link Patient Records Across Egypt
The proposed system would connect health facilities, unify patient records and incorporate AI, telemedicine and centralised monitoring.
The Ministry of Health and Population is planning a national digital healthcare platform designed to connect health facilities and unify patients’ medical histories and health records across different providers.
The proposed ‘Egypt Smart Healthcare Platform’ is intended to allow patient information to move between hospitals and other healthcare facilities instead of remaining isolated within separate systems.
The ministry said the platform would also incorporate artificial intelligence applications, telemedicine services and a command-and-control centre.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed the project with representatives of MTS and Inspur after reviewing China’s experience with digital healthcare and examining how elements of that model could be adapted locally.
Officials also reviewed proposed implementation stages and possible financing models, and discussed launching a pilot for the first phase of the project.
