National Veal Project Receives EGP 154 Million in State Funding
The funding supports livestock rearing for small breeders and young graduates.
New financing of EGP 154 million has been approved under the National Veal Project to support 110 beneficiaries, including small-scale breeders and young graduates, for the rearing of 2,200 livestock, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
The programme operates within the presidential Decent Life initiative launched by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to support rural development.
Total funding disbursed under the project has reached EGP 10.562 billion, benefiting 45,686 recipients and supporting more than 529,781 head of livestock, including calves for meat production and high-yield heifers for dairy.
The project is aimed at increasing the supply of meat and dairy products in the domestic market. Authorities said field inspections of beneficiaries are being carried out by the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector and the General Authority for Veterinary Services, in coordination with agricultural and veterinary directorates nationwide.
Inspections are conducted in cooperation with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt and the National Bank of Egypt, which provide financing for the programme.
Livestock are insured through the Livestock Insurance Fund at subsidised rates and are subject to ongoing monitoring.
Applications for the programme remain open through branches of the Agricultural Bank of Egypt and the National Bank of Egypt, with site inspections conducted by specialised committees before approvals are finalised.
