New AI System to Monitor & Analyse Media Misinformation in the UAE

A new artificial intelligence system is being developed to monitor, analyse and verify digital media content in real time, with a focus on identifying misinformation patterns, narratives and trends.

The system was announced by the International Centre for Combating Media Disinformation during the first meeting of its Board of Directors. It is intended to combine AI tools with professional media expertise to strengthen monitoring and verification capabilities.

Its functions will include tracking keywords, topics and media narratives, analysing how content spreads, identifying trends and indicators, and supporting data analysis and fact-checking processes.

Sultan Al Hosani, secretary-general of the centre, said the system is being developed as an integrated digital platform for monitoring, analysing and verifying media and online content.

Alongside the technology, the centre also introduced the International Charter for Media Integrity and Combating Misinformation. The charter is designed to bring together media organisations, professional bodies, academic institutions and research organisations around shared standards for verification, professional responsibility and media integrity.
