New Roads Lakes & Heritage Districts to Open in Kalba in December

A series of development projects in Kalba are scheduled to open in December, marking the completion of a programme that has been under way since 2019. The projects include new roads, lakes, and heritage sites, forming part of ongoing development across the coastal city. Work has continued over seven years, following a commitment made to residents in April 2019.
Among the confirmed openings are developments at Jebel Deem, which include roads, landscaping, and rest areas, as well as Al Hayar, where a rest area and a lake have been completed. Roadworks in Wadi Al Helo, compensation buildings, and upgrades to the corniche are also included in the December rollout.
A new heritage destination, Khor Kalba City, is being developed behind Kalba University and extending towards the coastline. The area includes converted residential buildings now operating as lodging units, alongside restored forts and mosques that have undergone archaeological and historical review. The district will be enclosed within a perimeter wall.
Road infrastructure projects are nearing completion, including a new route parallel to Al Wahda Street linking the area behind the university to the city wall, and another route connecting the corniche to the ring road. An existing fort within a roundabout is also being integrated into the network.
The Al Furaish Lake project, located behind Al Murash Square and extending approximately 750 metres, is also progressing. The site is being developed as a leisure destination, with landscaped areas, walking paths, and water features flowing from the surrounding terrain towards the sea.
Further phases are expected beyond December, with additional infrastructure and services, including sewage systems and rainwater drainage, to be delivered as development across Kalba continues.
