Royal Institute Launches Eight Self-Paced Traditional Arts Courses

The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts has launched eight self-paced courses in Saudi Arabia, giving learners more flexible access to traditional crafts education.

The programmes cover eight art forms, including leatherwork, prayer bead making, wood painting and gypsum carving, with learners able to study according to their own schedules and interests.

The institute said the courses are intended to expand public access to knowledge of Saudi traditional arts while supporting the preservation and transmission of craft skills through accessible learning pathways.

The launch follows the institute’s fourth Wrth Summer programme, which targeted more than 7,000 boys and girls aged 8 to 12 in Riyadh, Hail and Abha.

That programme introduced participants to Saudi traditional arts through practical stations, demonstrations and hands-on activities, including learning about traditional tools and techniques and creating their own artworks.
