Saudi Museums Mark National Day With Family Programmes

The Museums Commission is marking Saudi National Day with a series of family programmes at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, the Red Sea Museum in Jeddah and the Tarek Abdulhakim Museum in Jeddah from September 23rd.

At the National Museum, activities will run from September 23rd to 26th through an interactive journey across the museum. The programme begins with a shadow-theatre performance on King Abdulaziz and the unification of the Kingdom, followed by stations exploring national figures, regional diversity, customs and traditions.

The museum lobby will also host live folk-art performances from different regions in collaboration with the Theater and Performing Arts Commission. Families can take part in games and creative activities, while younger visitors can explore a new sensory discovery wall. A recording station will allow visitors to leave messages about the Kingdom and its future.

The Red Sea Museum, housed in Jeddah’s historic Bab Al-Bunt building, will hold a full day of activities on September 23rd, including face painting, colouring sessions and guided tours. The programme also includes ‘A Nation’s Story’, an inclusive storytelling experience with Saudi Sign Language interpretation for Deaf children and people with disabilities.

The museum will also launch Minaa Encounters, a recurring platform for emerging Saudi photographers, artists and other creatives. Its first edition, ‘Between Sea and Stone’, explores Jeddah and its port through the work of emerging Saudi photographers. Participating artists will be present from September 23rd to 25th, while the exhibition will remain on view until September 30th.

At the Tarek Abdulhakim Museum, musical workshops and interactive activities will run from September 23rd to 25th, inviting children and families to explore Saudi musical traditions through hands-on sessions.
