Saudi Students Get Digital IDs With QR Codes for First Time
The new digital ID includes a student’s name, nationality, identity number, school and grade, with a QR code for authorised verification.
Saudi students returning to public schools on August 23rd, 2026 will have access to official digital identification cards for the first time, alongside a wider set of online tools for managing schoolwork and administrative services.
The digital ID includes key personal and academic information such as the student’s name, nationality, identity number, school and grade. A QR code allows authorised entities to verify the information electronically when needed.
The new service is available through the Ministry of Education’s Unified Education Portal, which brings academic tasks, communication tools and administrative procedures together in one platform.
Students and parents can use the portal to view homework, periodic tests and other assignments throughout the school year. A messaging feature also allows families to communicate directly with teachers and school administrative staff for routine questions and follow-ups without visiting the school in person.
Other services include registration for school buses, student transfers between schools, guardian registration and procedures for newly enrolled pupils.
