Saudi Students Win Roblox Contest With Chemistry Adventure Game

Saudi students Kayan Al-Rwaili and Jameela Al-Huwaydi have won Roblox's nationwide Play to Learn competition with 'Glitch: Parallel Reactions', an educational game concept that turns chemistry lessons into an interactive adventure.

Organised by Roblox in collaboration with Savvy Games Group and the Ministry of Education, the programme attracted more than 700,000 students and received over 155,000 submissions from across Saudi Arabia. As the winning concept, 'Glitch: Parallel Reactions' will now be developed for the Roblox Learning Hub.

The game follows a student named Badr, who is transported through his classroom blackboard into a fantasy world where players solve chemical equations and overcome creatures inspired by chemistry concepts to progress through the story.

According to its creators, the project was designed to make chemistry more engaging for students by combining educational content with gameplay rather than presenting lessons in a conventional format. They chose chemistry because many students find the subject particularly challenging and wanted to create a more accessible way to learn it.

The competition forms part of a wider initiative to encourage students to explore game-based learning and digital creativity. With its planned release on the Roblox Learning Hub, the Saudi-developed game is expected to become available to learners beyond the Kingdom.
