Saudi Taxis Can Now Take Passengers to Bahrain

Saudi taxis are now permitted to carry passengers between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain under new cross-border rules. The Transport General Authority set out the conditions in a circular to taxi-sector investors, requiring operators to comply with the executive regulations governing taxi and passenger transport activities as well as relevant international agreements.

Saudi carriers providing the service must hold a valid operating licence and work through licensed taxi and passenger transport brokers. Companies are also required to submit an approved passenger loading manifest for each trip.

Operators must verify the identities of drivers and passengers and ensure that all required travel documents are valid before beginning a cross-border journey.

The rules also require integration with relevant government systems, including the Shomoos security system, and compliance with the approved fare structure.

Saudi taxis are not currently allowed to pick up passengers on the return journey from Bahrain, and they are also prohibited from transporting passengers within Bahrain.
