Video Game Giant EA is Now Majority Owned by Saudi Arabia's PIF

Video game giants Electronic Arts has completed its USD 55 billion acquisition by an investor consortium led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), returning the video game publisher to private ownership.

The consortium now owns 100% of the company, with the Public Investment Fund holding a 93.4% stake, Silver Lake owning 5.5%, and Affinity Partners holding the remaining 1.1%. The transaction was first announced in September 2025, and Electronic Arts will now be delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Famed for game franchises like EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA), The Sims, Battlefield, Need for Speed and Mass Effect, Electronic Arts said the acquisition provides the company with long-term capital and strategic expertise from the investor group as it enters its next phase of growth.

"This moment recognises the extraordinary people whose creativity, ambition and passion have made EA one of the world's leading interactive entertainment companies," Andrew Wilson, CEO and Chairman of Electronic Arts, said. "Together, we'll invest boldly, accelerate innovation, and build the next generation of games and experiences for the hundreds of millions of players and fans who inspire us every day."

Turqi Alnowaiser, Deputy Governor and Head of International Investments at the Public Investment Fund, said the fund's previous role as a minority investor had given it a strong understanding of Electronic Arts' business. He added that entertainment and sports remain strategic priorities for the fund and that the consortium is positioned to support the company's long-term growth and innovation.
