Women-Led Projects Received Over EGP 1.3 Billion in Funding in 2025

Women-led projects received more than EGP 1.3 billion in financing through the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency in 2025, according to Egypt’s Economic and Social Development Plan for the 2026/2027 fiscal year. The funding accounted for around a quarter of the agency’s total financing and supported approximately 25,900 projects.

Micro-enterprises received the largest share of the financing, while small and medium-sized enterprises also accounted for a significant portion. The funding contributed to the creation of thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for women.

The plan identifies women’s economic empowerment as a national priority, with measures including expanded financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. These efforts are intended to increase women’s participation in economic activity, improve income levels and support the financial independence of families.

Support also extends beyond financing, with women benefiting from infrastructure and community development projects as well as training programmes focused on capacity building, skills development and the sustainability of women-led businesses.

Upper Egypt governorates received the largest share of funding allocated to women, while the commercial sector was the primary beneficiary. The wider strategy aims to increase women’s participation in the labour market, encourage entrepreneurship and expand financial and economic inclusion across the country.
