3ala Mazag: Big Murk [Curated Playlist]
This episode on our artist-curated playlist, 3ala Mazag, we have a Palestinian-Jordanian producer, Big Murk, with a taste-making selection of his all-time favourite tunes.
We’re back with a new instalment of our artist-curated playlist series, ‘3ala Mazag’. This episode, we have Big Murk - one of the most uncompromising artists in Jordan’s underground scene - on the aux, with an exclusive selection that offers a window into the sounds and influences shaping his creative world.
Not only a producer but also a DJ, MC and occasionally a drummer, Big Murk is one of the many artists currently reshaping the region’s hip-hop scene. He has built a sound that is as bouncy, murky and neck-snapping as it gets, centred around unconventionally programmed drum patterns, and manipulations of various genres like grime, breaks, techno, left-field bass, electro, UKG and jungle. He has also performed on international stages at festivals and clubs across Europe, including Panke Culture in Berlin, PTX Athens, and Colour Factory in London.
The Palestinian-Jordanian artist’s playlist features a taste-making, versatile selection of tracks from regional and international artists like Rknddn, Rick Ross, and Abul3ees, with deep cuts from Duppy and INVT and Flying Lotus.
