Galaxy Juice’s Altersal Launches Solo Project With ‘Green Feather'

If you’ve been following Kuwaiti psychedelic indie rock group, Galaxy Juice, you’d recognise front man Altersal’s voice anywhere. Well, following the band’s release of ‘Ya Salwa’ earlier this year, that voice has struck out on its own, launching Altersal’s solo career with his debut track, ‘Green Feather’, released in collaboration with local artist Bazila.

The track evokes a deep sense of nostalgia with its production choices and instrumentation, where orchestral percussion and strings begin the track with a sense of grandeur. The instruments revolve around a peaceful, glistening harp melody that is complemented by an unintelligible voice singing beautifully in the distance. Brass and woodwinds are also heard in the background, giving the surreal track an impressive amount of texture and detail.

are faster paced, such as the pulsating, choppy synthesisers that give the track its sense of motion towards the end.

The music video, directed by Marina Di Milta, is an ethereal visual experience that perfectly suits the serenity and vulnerability of the music. It makes use of flashing graphics and fast paced editing style to provide a sense of lightheartedness to the music. The unique art style of the graphics also adds another layer of richness to the work, which seems to be heavily inspired by surrealist art.

This piece is a fresh re-interpretation of a vintage style of music that feels both delicate and impactful, and the ambient direction taken by the Kuwait based producer suggests that he is exploring new sounds and ideas at this point in his career.
