Hamdi Ryder Samples Tunisian Series ‘Choufli Hal’ on New House EP
Titled 'Dr White Cuts', the two-track record, released via Bandcamp, is a refreshing effort on house, funk and acid grooves.
Tunisian DJ and producer, Hamdi Ryder, has unveiled his first official project of 2026: an EP titled 'Dr White Cuts' that draws from dialogues of the 2000s cult Tunisian sitcom Choufli Hal, a series that humorously explores the quirks of everyday life in Tunisia.
Released exclusively on Bandcamp, Ryder transforms these samples into club-ready compositions, blending breezy, hip-shaking house grooves with electro and funk-inflected breaks. In the first track, 'Dr White Cuts #1’, Acid-tinged lines weave through the rhythms, creating a nostalgic texture that feels simultaneously familiar and fresh, perfect for early-morning or beachside sets.
The EP’s second track, ‘Dr White Cuts #2’, layers wonky synths and acid flourishes over a vocoder-drenched vocals, crisp hi-hats, and a ringing phone sample pulled from an iconic Choufli Hal scene, capturing the series’ playful energy in a contemporary electronic frame.
'Dr White Cuts' showcases Ryder’s playful yet precise approach to production, reflecting a sonic philosophy rooted in mining everyday and archival sounds and transforming them into forward-thinking, danceable music. The EP underscores his knack for turning cultural memory into moments that feel alive on the dance floor while carving out a distinct electronic identity.
