Nesta Launches Label NESTASY With 2016 Track ‘Piece of Mind’

Lebanese DJ and producer Nesta has launched his own label, NESTASY, a new imprint dedicated to his solo productions. For its inaugural release, Nesta revisits his 2016 collaboration with Alko B, ‘Piece of Mind’.

One of the region’s most celebrated DJ/producers and a key tastemaker in Beirut’s electronic scene, Nesta has built a reputation around an irreverent, genre-fluid approach to house music. Versatile and often improvisational, his rhythmic productions and sets draw from hip-hop, jazz and psychedelic rock, moving fluidly between cosmic disco, breaks, deep house and garage.

‘Piece of Mind’ dates back a decade, with Nesta recalling O.Bee as one of the first DJs to play the track. Originally released through New York-based label Eye Spy and later featured on Nesta’s 2018 double album Eclectic Electric, the track sits on the more soulful, and jazz-leaning side of Nesta’s eclectic house sound. Built around brushes, bass, contrabass, guitar and piano arrangements, it features Alko B’s soulful vocals and additional guitar recordings, giving the production a loose, organic feel that reflects Nesta’s long-standing tendency to blur lines between house, jazz, funk and other musical influences.

In Nesta’s words, ‘Piece of Mind’ is a track that has lived with him for years, making its emergence from the hard drive a fitting way to launch NESTASY and begin his new chapter as a label owner.
