Tchubi Launches Audiovisual Album With Short Film for ‘Mathasebnich'
The piece comes as the first part of the Moroccan rapper's cinematic concept album 'A Man With A Gun'.
Stepping away from conventional release formats, Moroccan rapper Tchubi sets out an ambitious vision with new concept album, A Man With a Gun. Structured as an episodic audiovisual project, the rollout has launched with its first installment and lead single, ‘MATHASEBNICH’.
Directed by Mehdi Messaoudi, the seven-minute short film follows a fictionalized version of Tchubi alongside his entourage: a trio of misfits navigating family dynamics, personal relationships, and living life on the edge.
Musically, the track relies on an atmospheric production style that mirrors the rebellious undertones of the visuals. Tchubi meets the beat with a striking stoicism, delivering sharp, direct bars centered on a refusal to be judged. Following a sequence of tense arguments and street-level scenes, the short film, titled 'MAD DOGS’, plunges viewers into a nocturnal cityscape, setting up the next chapter at the doors of a nightclub where the group is turned away.
By pairing a visual that tackles the uncomfortable realities of living on the fringe of society with a single that matches its confrontational edge and hypnotic groove, ‘MATHASEBNICH' signals a massive creative leap for Tchubi, setting a high benchmark for the rest of the album's episodic rollout.
