Yasmina El-Abd: On the Making ‘Damma’ and Re-Tuning Her Musical DNA

In a move that caught many off guard, Egyptian actress Yasmina El-Abd forayed into music with her debut track, ‘Damma’, featured in the drama series ‘Mid Term’. El-Abd is no stranger to music, however.

While she admits that it was never part of the original plan, with acting having remained her primary focus, the opportunity to venture more into music was something she couldn't turn down. It placed her in an entirely new creative space alongside producers such as Mohamed Bahiry and Alaa El Din, whose involvement helped her find the footing she needed to explore the medium with confidence.

Despite being relatively new to the industry, her connection to music runs deeper than it might seem. Yasmina draws inspiration from a wide spectrum of artists across the region, from the classical works of Lebanese icon Fairuz to contemporary voices like Zeyne, TUL8TE, Saint Levant, and Wegz. It’s a range that reflects a versatile and eclectic taste, hinting at multiple directions her own sound could take.
