Donia Samir Ghanem Renews UNICEF Egypt Ambassador Role

UNICEF in Egypt has renewed the appointment of actress and singer Donia Samir Ghanem as a UNICEF Egypt Ambassador, marking ten years of partnership focused on advancing the rights and wellbeing of children in Egypt and across the region.

The renewed collaboration will centre on two priorities: improving child nutrition and supporting girls to learn, participate and reach their full potential. Since first taking on the role in 2015, Ghanem has supported UNICEF campaigns on child protection, nutrition, girls' empowerment and children's participation, while also helping to raise funds for children and families affected by crises across the region.

“Children's futures are shaped not only by policies and programmes, but also by the voices that inspire people to care and act,” Natalia Winder Rossi, UNICEF Representative in Egypt, said.

“Over the past decade, Donia Samir Ghanem has been one of those voices, and we are proud to continue this partnership on behalf of children.” “To every child in Egypt, across our Arab region, and beyond: I am with you, and my voice will always be an echo of your voices, your dreams, and your ambitions," Donia Samir Ghanem said.

The renewal was marked by a high-level event in Cairo attended by government officials, heads of national councils, diplomats, development partners, members of the media and children. Young participants shared the issues most important to them and engaged directly with Ghanem, highlighting the importance of amplifying children's voices.
