Kiki's & Be-Indie Just Made a Short Film Roasting Themselves
It is part summer campaign, part fashion film, part apocalypse comedy, and, most importantly, a brand fully committing to its own lore.
A few brand names reach full-blown cult meme status, but Kiki’s Beach definitely has. It is the ultimate summer aspiration and running joke, embedded in pop culture as the place where everything good, absurd and slightly unhinged supposedly happens. A myth of its own making, basically.
This summer, Kiki’s is leaning all the way into it. They’re in on the joke. In KIKI’s Mirador, a new short film created with streetwear brand BE-INDIE, Kiki’s turns its own mythology into the plot, building a surreal world around all the tropes that come with Kiki’s and the North Coast in summer. Here, they’re both the protagonists and the punchline.
The film opens with Ahmed Ganzoury, the events and hospitality mastermind behind Kiki’s, slipping into the role of a news anchor to announce that, despite an impending catastrophe, Kiki’s will remain open. From there, we get the familiar Kiki’s universe: door-selection shenanigans, the eternal “fully booked, no reservations” situation, and even BE-INDIE merch getting its own half-serious shopping-channel moment.
Written and directed by Bosaina, KIKI’s Mirador takes the branded short film somewhere decidedly stranger. Drawing on retro television, shopping channels, social media, fashion campaigns and disaster cinema, it follows a cast of nightlife impresarios, shopping hosts, real estate agents, performers and beachgoers 24 hours before a meteor is due to hit Earth. And their response is, naturally, to carry on at one of North Coast’s most iconic beach clubs.
Produced in collaboration with Kiki’s Beach Club and BE-INDIE, the film brings together personalities from Egypt’s hospitality, nightlife, and creative scenes, blurring the line between the fictional characters on screen and the very real culture they parody.
