Egyptian Judoka Safa Soliman Wins Bronze at Judo Grand Slam in Hungary

Egyptian judoka Safa Soliman has won bronze in the women’s +78kg category at the Hungary Grand Slam in Budapest, securing her first Grand Slam medal on the International Judo Federation World Tour.

The 19-year-old reached the bronze-medal contest after being sent to the repechage by Estonia’s Emma-Melis Aktas in the quarter-finals. She then defeated New Zealand’s Sydnee Andrews in the repechage to book her place in the bronze-medal bout, where she faced Croatia’s Helena Vuković.

Soliman dominated the contest and defeated Vuković by ippon to claim third place.

The result adds another major medal to Soliman’s 2026 season. She previously won bronze at the African Senior Championships, silver at the African Junior Championships and bronze at the Mediterranean Games, continuing a strong run of results across senior and junior competition.
