Dubai’s Longest Public Beach Will be Inside a Wildlife Sanctuary
The largest public beach in the emirate of Dubai will be developed at Jebel Ali, and will feature mangroves and wildlife sanctuaries.
Far from the madding crowds of Jumeirah and the glitzy beach party life of Dubai’s city, there lies a mystique, still existing in the untouched corners of the emirate. There, amidst the desert dunes and turquoise waters, where wandering Bedouin would dive for oysters, swimming amongst turtles and fish, a new project arises from the mangroves – the longest public beach at Jebel Ali.
Set to call a wildlife sanctuary home, this ecotourism hub will include a 5 KM sandy beach by leading Dubai real estate developer, Nakheel, and a 1.6 KM mangrove beach that will be developed by the Dubai Municipality.
The area will feature swimmable beach spaces, diving areas, a walkway with viewing platforms, and recreational zones for children, as well as parking for 1000 vehicles, 80 bicycle tracks, a cycling track, and a 5 KM running track.
Finally, the beach will be divided into three sections. The Pearl will feature a beach club, restaurants, cafes and shops. The Sanctuary will feature natural habitats for turtles and other indigenous fauna. The third site, The Nest, will feature immense mangroves, and will include a centre for environmental studies.
