A New Error: MENA Artists Explore Identity & Womanhood

In a world that is constantly evolving, it is no secret that we often find ourselves confronting unfamiliar concepts and ideas. It is through the lens of contemporary art that we are able to witness and understand these complex themes, and nowhere is this more evident than in the latest exhibition hosted by Kuwaiti-Egyptian gallery Dar Al Funoon in Zamalek.

Entitled 'A New Error', the exhibition features a collection of works by some of the most renowned artists in the region such as Karim El Hayawan, Walid Taher, Ghalia Benali, Amira Behbehani, Najd Al Taher and Mohammed El Kouh. Showcasing their unique visions, the exhibition presents a captivating exploration of existentialism, Arab womanhood and identity.

Stepping into the gallery, one is immediately transported into a world of vivid colors, bold textures, and thought-provoking imagery. Each work on display is a masterpiece, inviting the viewer to delve deeper into its meaning and to contemplate the greater ideas that it represents.

As we immerse ourselves in the exhibition, we find ourselves confronted with powerful imagery and messages that resonate deeply with the complexities of modern society. Abstract representations of emotional upheaval sit alongside poignant portraits of Arab women in niqabs, carrying bu'gas on their heads or playing the duf. Each piece is a testament to the power of art to communicate complex ideas and emotions, and the exhibition as a whole provides a fascinating insight into the unique perspectives of these talented artists.

In a world that is often plagued by division and uncertainty, 'A New Error' reminds us of the universal themes that connect us all, and of the importance of exploring them through the medium of art.

The exhibition is running until Thursday, March 23rd.
