The 6th of October Bridge is the longest bridge in Cairo. Since 1969, the spinal cord of the capital has been the commute of thousands of working Egyptians. But now, new presidential orders are in effect to widen the 20 kilometre bridge.
The bridge will be widened in order to add more lanes, taking it from its current two lanes to “as many as possible,” according to presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady. All roads extending below the bridge will also be developed as a part of this project.
