Alexandrian Beach Adds Features for People With Visual Impairments
These features include special tracks to the sea, with buoys installed that will allow people with visual impairments to navigate the waters.
Alexandria’s beaches are becoming more inclusive than ever. After Mandara beach opened a section for people with disabilities in July 2021, with wheelchair accessible areas and on-ground assistants, it has now integrated a number of features to accommodate people with visual impairments, becoming the first public beach in Egypt to do so.
These features include special tracks to the sea, with buoys installed that will allow people with visual impairments to accurately judge the depth of the water, and help them navigate their way to and from the shore without any need of assistance
