Sufi Activities are Returning to Egyptian Mosques This Year
The Ministry of Awqaf revised procedures for holding Sufi activities in mosques across the country.
After a years-long pause on Sufi activities in Egyptian mosques due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the lead Sheikh of Sufi Turuq and the Ministry of Awqaf’s religious sector have fully coordinated on new procedures to carry out Sufi practices in mosques across the country.
The process will involve specifying the activity and its duration, along with when and where it would be held. This will allow the head of the religious sector to notify the directorate where the needed mosque is located and arrange for the activity to be carried out.
Both parties agreed to follow all shari’a law procedures and obligations when executing Sufi activities, as well as law no.118 regulating Sufi activities in Egypt.
