A New Rock Art Centre Is Coming to Sharjah’s Kalba in 2026

Sharjah is set to welcome the Kalba Rock Art Centre, a new cultural hub showcasing some of the UAE’s richest rock-art sites.

Developed by Shurooq, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, the centre—scheduled to open in 2026—will feature over 400 engravings spanning from the Neolithic period to the 19th century, including animal depictions, stone houses, graves, and copper-smelting scenes.

Located on a coastal hill near Al Hefaiyah Park and Kalba Waterfront, the 3,574-square-metre site will also offer interactive educational exhibits, a café, and a gift shop.

Nearby, the Nomad project, managed under Shurooq’s Sharjah Collection brand, will include 20 luxury trailers powered by hybrid energy systems, a main trailer with a restaurant and guest services, and 7.44 KM of hiking and mountain-biking trails. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as birdwatching, yoga, and stargazing.

Together, these projects aim to strengthen Kalba’s position as a hub for eco- and cultural tourism, while supporting local entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
