Sharjah Expands Tourism Projects Across Khor Fakkan & Kalba

Tourism and urban development projects are advancing across Khor Fakkan and Kalba, with five projects in Kalba targeted for completion by December as part of wider expansion plans across Sharjah’s eastern region. Earlier this month, the AED 700 million Khor Fakkan Resort was inaugurated. Developed by Asas Real Estate, the real estate arm of Sharjah Islamic Bank, the project contains 573 residential units ranging from one to four bedrooms alongside lounge areas and 16 commercial outlets. Positioned along the coast near Khor Fakkan beach, the promenade, and the city waterfall, the development overlooks the sea, beach, city, and surrounding mountains. A new landmark known as The Clock Tower is also under construction at the city’s southern entrance, designed with an Islamic-style dome and decorative arches. Meanwhile, the 7 million square foot Abu Kizan Marine Village is being developed around a natural harbour using a mix of Ligurian and Islamic architectural influences. Plans for the site include multicoloured waterfront buildings, green flats, a Presidential Boulevard promenade, beach facilities, and expanded road and pedestrian connections. In Kalba, work continues on the Al Hayar Lake and Rest Area project, which is being designed as a recreational destination. Hospitality projects are also underway in Khor Kalba City near the coast, where existing residential buildings are being converted into rental lodges and hotels. The Al Mahara Theatre, also known as the Shell Theatre, is designed with an entrance route passing beneath the water. The 750-metre Al Furaish Lake project will incorporate mountain landscaping, waterfalls flowing toward the sea, pedestrian pathways, and parking areas. Construction is also progressing on the Kalba Heritage Museum, planned as a living museum focused on traditional arts and crafts, with an elevated restaurant overlooking the surrounding area. A rose water fountain roundabout is additionally being developed at Kalba’s western entrance.
