D-CAF Launches Pergola Arts Theatre With Weekend Program
The weekend-long celebration invites visitors to experience a range of performances that highlight Egypt’s diverse cultural landscape.

The Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF) is marking its 13th edition with the grand opening of the Pergola Arts Theatre, a new permanent performance venue and public plaza located in Agouza’s Children’s Park.
To celebrate the launch, D-CAF is hosting a two-day programme filled with live music, dance, theatre, and storytelling — all designed to bring audiences together in a space that connects community and creativity.
Held in partnership with Cluster – Along the Line, THISS Studio, the British Council, Art Jameel, and Orient Productions, the weekend-long celebration invites visitors to experience a range of performances that highlight Egypt’s diverse cultural landscape. Entry to the event is EGP 10, with all activities open to the public.
Friday, October 10th
Organisers’ Speeches (3 PM – 4 PM):
The festival begins with opening remarks from D-CAF’s organisers and partners.
‘The Jacket’ by Noha Khattab & Reham Ramzy (4:15 PM – 4:35 PM):
A short, movement-driven performance exploring connection and self-expression.
‘Karyet Al Farafir’ Puppet Show:
A playful puppet performance by Puppetshino, open to audiences of all ages, including families and children.
Tahtib (Ashbal):
The Baraem Group for Tahtib presents a dynamic performance blending traditional Egyptian stick dance with theatre choreography.
‘Les Fables de La Fontaine – Arabic Storytelling’:
The evening wraps up with a storytelling session by Hakawy AFCA, reinterpreting La Fontaine’s fables in Arabic.
Saturday, October 11th
Semsemiya Folkloric Performance:
The Semsemeya Troupe brings the weekend to a close with a lively musical showcase, blending traditional coastal rhythms and melodies to celebrate Egypt’s enduring folk heritage.
