Filmmakers Gaspar Noé & Youssry Nasrallah to Lead Masterclass at CIFF
The two celebrated filmmakers will lead an exclusive masterclass at the 4th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival.
The 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) is set to host a masterclass led by Algerian-Italian filmmaker Gaspar Noé and Egyptian director Youssry Nasrallah.
Known for his provocative and experimental approach to cinema, Gaspar Noé, based in Paris, has built a career that challenges conventional storytelling. The son of Argentine painter and writer Luis Felipe Noé, he grew up in an artistic environment that deeply influenced his creative path. In the early 1990s, Noé co-founded the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone with his partner, Lucile Hadžihalilović. His notable works include ‘I Stand Alone’ (1998), ‘Irréversible’ (2002) and ‘Enter the Void (2009)’.
Joining him is Youssry Nasrallah, a Cairo native whose early career included work as a film critic and directing assistant in Beirut - roles that preceded his time as an assistant to celebrated Egyptian filmmaker Youssef Chahine. Chahine’s company, Misr International, later produced many of Nasrallah’s films, which often explore complex social and political themes. His 2012 film ‘After the Battle’ earned international acclaim and was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
