Khalifa Fund Launches AI Incubation Programme NEXUS

Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development has opened applications for NEXUS, a free, equity-free AI incubation programme for Emirati founders based at MZN Hub Abu Dhabi.

The programme is designed to help founders validate ideas, develop products and prepare for investment, combining entrepreneurship training with practical AI implementation, specialised mentorship and access to corporates, government entities and investors. Founders retain full ownership of their companies and intellectual property.

NEXUS will accept 30 startups across two tracks. ‘Building With AI’ is aimed at founders using existing AI tools to improve operations and execution, while ‘Building AI’ is for teams developing AI-based products. Eligible participants can also earn an AI Venture Practitioner Certificate.

Priority sectors include AI and advanced technologies, HealthTech and wellness, AgriTech and food security, FinTech and smart services, climate and sustainability, and creative and cultural technology.

“NEXUS reflects our continued commitment to empowering Emirati entrepreneurs and equipping them with the tools and expertise they need to transform their ideas into scalable and competitive ventures,” said H.E. Mouza Obaid Al Nasri, CEO of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. “By combining entrepreneurship with practical AI applications, the programme helps shape a new generation of Emirati startups capable of transforming innovation into promising economic opportunities.”

The programme will move from screening and founder interviews into onboarding, core incubation and Demo Week, followed by four weeks of remote support. Each startup will receive an initial development roadmap and a second tailored roadmap covering the following six months.

Engagement with corporates, government entities and investors will be based on each venture’s level of readiness. Up to five startups will also be selected to attend a Silicon Valley Summit in California, where they will meet AI companies, researchers and international investors.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, reside in Abu Dhabi and have at least 51% Emirati ownership. Startups must have a clear idea, working prototype or minimum viable product, alongside a scalable business model. Applications close on September 20th, 2026.
