New Virtual Tour Explores Holy Family's Journey Through Wadi El-Natrun
Created by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, this tour explores a settlement where the Holy Family rested.
In an effort to showcase the journey of the Holy Family through Egypt, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has released a new virtual tour of Wadi El-Natrun.
Located in North-West Egypt in the Beheira governorate, Wadi El-Natrun is an historic destination where the Holy Family stopped during the first century. Available in both English and Arabic, the tour allows anyone to virtually look inside the St. Macarius, St. Bishoy, and Parameos monasteries, as well as the Monastery of Al-Suryan. It also includes the Nabaa Al-Hamra Spring, and allows users to explore the streets, bazaars, restaurants and hotels of Wadi El-Natrun.
According to the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, Amr Al-Kadi, this tour showcases efforts to restore and develop the culturally significant locations within the settlement. Almost EGP 80 million has been spent on developing this area so far, with completed projects including paving roads leading to points on the Holy Family Trail, new landscaping, and implementation of lighting and signage systems. The developmental efforts within Wadi El-Natrun are part of a larger vision to protect and restore multiple locations visited by the Holy Family across Egypt.
This tour can be accessed on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities website.
