Photo of the Week: Nather Al Asyf

Saudi photographer Nather Al Asyf is drawn to people, relationships and everyday moments.

For this edition of ‘Photo of the Week’, Al Asyf selected an image taken at 6 AM in Qatif in August 2025, on his daughter’s first day of school. As his wife gently brushed her hair in their living room, his daughter sat in her school dress, ready to begin a new chapter.

For him, the photograph is part of a lifelong project documenting his experience as a father to three daughters, preserving the small moments of love and childhood that can pass too quickly.

“The stories that resonate with me most are the real ones - the moments that happen naturally, without staging.” And there was no story more real to him than this one. “I believe photography is my language to express my love for my family, but also my way of documenting our culture and what it means to be a parent in our generation.”
