Qahrawya Hosts 'Gaza Mon Amour' Movie Night in Downtown Cairo
The screening starts at 8 PM, with tickets priced at LE 75.
Alternative cultural educators Qahrawya are hosting a film night at their studio in Downtown Cairo, screening Arab and Tarzan Nasser’s award-winning 2020 film ‘Gaza Mon Amour’.
‘Gaza Mon Amour’ is a dramatic story of love tracing 60-year-old fisherman Issa’s infatuation with Siham, a woman who works as a dressmaker in the local market with her daughter Leila. When he dredges up an ancient (and quite phallic) statue of Apollo in his nets, he hides it in fear of what to do with his discovery. But he cannot escape the feeling that the statue will change his life forever. Determined not to let it get in his way, Issa decides to approach Siham. Known for their walking tours of the more obscure parts of Downtown Cairo, Qahrawya’s studio is also home to culturally enriching experiences such as this. The movie will be screened at 8 PM with English subtitles, and tickets are priced at EGP 75. For more details on the event, and information on tickets, check out the event on Qahrawya’s Facebook page.
