Red Sea Film Festival Adds ‘Lumière!’ Feature to World Wonders Program
Directed by Thierry Frémaux, the film explores the birth of cinema through a restored collection of over 100 films.
The Red Sea International Film Festival has added the documentary ‘Lumière! The Adventure Continues’ by Thierry Frémaux to its World Wonders program. Frémaux, director of the Lumière Institute in Lyon, will personally present this film. Serving as the sequel to ‘Lumière! The Adventure Begins’, the new installment explores the birth of cinema through a restored collection of over 100 films.
Meanwhile, six new films have been added to the Global Selections program that highlight cultural diversity and unique stories from around the world. Notable additions include two black comedies: ‘The Dream in Black’ by Paolo Marino Blanco, about a woman with a terminal illness, and ‘Savoring the Revolution’ by Daniel Klein, starring Mahershala Ali as a revolutionary leader. The program also includes the world premiere of the action film ‘The Last Ronin’ by Maxim Shishkin, set in a post-apocalyptic future, and two standout Asian films: ‘Crocodile Tears’ by Tombal Tambopolon, and ‘Someone’ by Yoo-Young Kim and Jang-Shan Lee.
This year’s program also pays tribute to African cinema with the return of director Jean-Luc Erbault and his new film ‘Zero’. Set in Dakar, Senegal, the film tells the story of two Americans who find themselves with bombs strapped to their chests, forcing them to solve the mystery of their predicament in just 10 hours.
