Zawya Cinema to Screen Beloved 70s Classic 'Khali Balak Men Zouzou’
As part of Zawya’s 10-year-anniversary, this film is back on the big screen after 50 years on March 8th and 9th.
Zawya Cinema, an independent movie theater in downtown Cairo, is kicking off its 10-year anniversary celebration with a special screening of ‘Khali Balak Men Zouzou’ on Friday, March 8th, and Saturday, March 9th.
This iconic movie needs no introduction. Rumored to have held the longest theatrical run ever in Egyptian cinema, this film features a legendary cast including Souad Hosni, Hussein Fahmy, Taheya Karioka, Shafik Galal, and Samir Ghanem. Written by Salah Gaheen and directed by Hassan El Imam, this will be the classic film’s first screening in an Egyptian cinema in over 50 years, brimming with romance and lively songs still sung to this day.
The plot follows a young woman as she makes a life-changing decision. Leaving behind her past as a dancer in Cairo's bustling Mohammed Ali Street, she embarks on a new journey – college. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to escape her old life, she falls for her professor. Caught between her studies and this unexpected romance, she grapples with the conflict of these two very different lives.
