Ziad Zaza & Lege-Cy Paris Show to Open with Kalam Aflam Film Programme
Kalam Aflam opens Ziad Zaza and Lege-Cy’s Paris show with 'Maqam', a short film program exploring music as storytelling.
Cinema and music will collide in Paris for the second date of the Ziad Zaza and Lege-Cy world tour, with arts and culture platform Kalam Aflam opening the evening with ‘Maqam’, a curated short film programme screening on April 10th at Petit Bain.
First presented in Milan in collaboration with cultural orgainisation Darna, the series heads to Paris with 10 short films across animation, documentary, music video, and fiction. Together, they trace the ways young Arab filmmakers are using music not simply as accompaniment, but as a central storytelling force.
Two of the films speak directly to the artists taking the stage that night: ‘60 Egyptian Pounds’, directed by Amr Salama, stars Ziad Zaza, while ‘Om El Donya’, directed by Marwan Tarek, features a song by the artist.
Zaza and Lege-Cy will kick off their tour on April 9th in Berlin, before heading to the French capital, as well as Milan, Amsterdam, Vienna, Köln and Barcelona, with dates in the UK, US and Canada still to be announced.
