Governata Co-Founder Appointed President of La French Tech Riyadh

Djamel Mohand, co-founder of Governata, has been appointed president of La French Tech Riyadh, a newly launched chapter of the French government-backed global startup initiative.

La French Tech supports entrepreneurship and technology ecosystems across multiple international markets, with the Riyadh chapter positioned to connect French and Saudi technology communities and support cross-border partnerships in emerging technologies.

The appointment comes as Saudi Arabia continues expanding its focus on artificial intelligence, deep technology, and digital transformation, attracting international startups, investors, and infrastructure projects.

“Saudi Arabia is undergoing one of the most exciting technology transformations globally,” Djamel Mohand said. “Through La French Tech Riyadh, we aim to strengthen collaboration, support entrepreneurs, and help create an environment where regional technology companies can scale with greater trust, credibility, and global ambition.”

Julie Huguet said Mohand’s leadership would strengthen ties between French and Saudi startup ecosystems while supporting entrepreneurs in both regions.

Launched in 2025, Governata develops AI-driven data governance and enterprise decision-making tools for public and private sector organisations.

The platform is designed to align with requirements set by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, including the National Data Management Office, National Data Index, and Personal Data Protection Law, helping organisations manage compliance, classify data, and prepare for generative AI adoption.

According to the company, Governata plans to expand beyond its core governance software with additional AI-driven enterprise decision-making products targeting the Middle East and North Africa.

La French Tech Riyadh is also expected to support visibility and engagement for emerging technology firms while encouraging enterprise adoption of locally developed digital solutions.
