Qatar Launches First National Dedicated Economic TV Channel QBC

Qatar Media Corporation has launched QBC, a dedicated economic television channel described as the first of its kind in Qatar, aimed at delivering in-depth coverage of local and global markets.

The channel will broadcast in 4K and be supported by digital platforms, offering real-time reporting and analysis across sectors including energy, finance, technology, stock markets and real estate.

Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Thani said the launch aligns with efforts to support the national economy and highlight developments across key sectors, positioning specialised media as part of broader economic and development strategies.

Test transmission is scheduled to begin on May 5th, 2026, according to Issa Abdullah Al Hetmi, who said the channel will feature economic programmes, specialised news bulletins and live market updates.

QBC has assembled a team of specialists and established a network of correspondents across major global financial centres, supported by partnerships with international economic agencies to provide direct market data and insights.

The launch forms part of a wider plan to expand Qatar Media Corporation’s portfolio of specialised channels, with a focus on strengthening business and economic journalism and enhancing access to market information for investors, decision-makers and the public.
