Raya Information Technology to Build Tier III Data Centre in Egypt
The plans follow a $15 million investment led by Africa50, the pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager.
Raya Data Center (RDC), a subsidiary of Raya Information Technology and portfolio company within Raya Holding’s investment portfolio, has secured a $15 million investment led by Africa50. This funding will support the development of a Tier III data centre in Egypt, aimed at accelerating the country’s digital transformation and addressing the growing demand for advanced data capacity and cloud services across the MENA region.
With construction slated to begin in early 2025, the centre will be among Egypt’s certified Tier III facilities. The investment from Africa50, the pan-African infrastructure investor and asset manager, underscores its commitment to bridging digital infrastructure gaps across the continent.
“This strategic partnership with Africa50 marks a key milestone in advancing Egypt’s digital infrastructure and positioning the country as a regional technology hub,” Ahmed Khalil, CEO of Raya Holding, tells StartupScene. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and sustainability while showcasing the strength of Raya’s diverse investment portfolio.”
This investment follows a recent $40 million funding round for Raya Foods, another of Raya Holding’s portfolio companies, backed by Helios Investment Partners, signaling the company’s breadth of investment in innovation across sectors.
“Raya Data Center is committed to providing a world-class cloud infrastructure, marked by exceptional security and reliability,” Hisham Abdelrasoul, CEO of Raya Information Technology, tells StartupScene. “This partnership with Africa50 marks a transformative step in enhancing our capabilities to drive digital economic growth and deliver advanced technological solutions across the region.”
