Over 18,000 trees were planted in Cairo and the Delta governorates of Kafr El-Sheikh and Daqahliya as part of the fourth phase of the national 100 Million Trees initiative.

As part of the fourth phase of the 100 Million Trees initiative, over 18,000 trees were planted in Cairo and the Delta governorates of Kafr El-Sheikh and Daqahliya, according to a recent report from the Ministry of Local Development. In Cairo, 300 trees were planted along the Shaarawy Axis in the Sayeda Nafisa area—among them 19 jacaranda and 40 Acacia nilotica—alongside 2,000 ornamental seedlings. In Kafr El-Sheikh, community-driven efforts added 5,845 fruit and ornamental trees, while in Daqahliya, 12,479 trees were planted across East and West Mansoura, Gamasa, and the Aga district under local urban and afforestation plans. Launched in 2022 under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the 100 Million Trees initiative aims to plant trees nationwide over a seven-year period to combat desertification, improve air quality, and expand urban green coverage. It is implemented in coordination with the Ministries of Local Development, Environment, and Agriculture, targeting public spaces, highways, and new urban developments across all governorates.
